What's the Neighborhood Like?
The Homestead at Old Jefferson is one of my favorite small subdivisions off of Old Jefferson Hwy. The neighborhood has security cameras at the entrance of the subdivision and nearby amenities that are remarkably convenient. The Homestead at Old Jefferson began developing in 2004. Some of the homes in this subdivision have swimming pools and huge backyards which are large enough to hold family gatherings. About 10 of the homes lake views from their very own back patio. A majority of these homes consist of 4 bedroom and 3 baths with a living space of 2,300 sq. ft. to over 3,600 sq. ft. The current listing prices start at around $300, 000. There are lots to do that surround The Homestead at Old Jefferson. Blue Bayou and Dixie Landing are Baton Rouge's only amusement and water park and are located about 2.5 miles from the subdivision. Just about 4 miles down Highway 73 (Old Jefferson Highway) on Highway 42 you will arrive at the Oak Grove community Park in Prairieville. This park contains a free splash pad and playground for the kids, as well as a sand volleyball court for the older kids or adults to enjoy. There is also the BREC Manchac Park with a child's playground and small baseball field, within 2 miles from the subdivision. Each fall you won't want to miss out on taking the family to the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair at the Airline Highway Parish Park. Your children would also enjoy a day of skating or hosting their next birthday party at nearby Skate Galaxy. Love to shop? You are only 8 miles from The Mall of Louisiana on Bluebonnet Boulevard and only 11 miles from the Tanger Outlet Mall in Gonzales, LA. Men, do you own a bow and arrow? Practice your archery at the Highland Road Community Park that is only 6 miles from your new home in The Homestead at Old Jefferson. The golfer in your family will be relieved to know that the prestigious Santa Maria golf community is only 3.5 miles away. There is no need to worry about where you will pick up your household items and groceries as there is a Walmart Super Center, Winn-Dixie, and Albertsons, all within a 2 mile radius. Masons Grill and Frank's Restaurant are the best spots for brunch in Baton Rouge, and are within a few miles of your new subdivision. Two of my favorite Italian restaurants, The Little Village and Ruffino's Italian Restaurant, are also located in this area. Once you become addicted to these amazing restaurants, you may be looking for a gym. A few of the fitness gyms in the area include Snap Fitness, Foxy's Fitness Center, and Anytime Fitness. For home decor and antiques, the best shops in this area to visit are The Royal Standard, This Olde Shoppe, and Eagle's Nest, Women's hospital is located within 4 miles of this area.
