10 QUICK MOVING TIPS
Being in the Real Estate business has taught me a lot of tricks to moving that can save you some time and most of all FRUSTRATION! Here are a couple simple tricks to help make the move a little less stressful.
1. Pack an overnight bag containing all the essentials.
Just include the essentials, so you dont have to worry about unpacking
anything the first night your in your new home.I like to use a backpack
or something of that size.
MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE: scissors or box cutter, toilet paper, tools and phone charger.
3. Write what room the items belong to. And use your drawers as boxes as well!
For Stacking purposes, do not write on the top of the box.
For your protection, do not write what items on in the box if you are shipping. Simply write a number on each box, then on a sheet of paper write what is in each numbered box to keep for yourself.
Wrap your dresser in cling wrap to keep the drawers from flapping open. Keep your clothes in the dresser to help reduce the unpacking process.
4. The fastest way to pack a closet:
I most recently packed my clothes like this and it was such a time saver. Unpacking will be so much easier if you use this tip.
I even the side of each bag like "work clothes", just in case I needed something before I got to my new home.
5. Place an extra cotton pad or ball into your powder cosmetics to keep them from breaking.
I do this anytime I'm traveling.
7. Use sandwich bags to hold small pieces as you take items apart.
This was very helpful for my tv mount, curtain rods, etc. Make sure to label each bag.
8. If you’re renting, take photos before you bring your things inside.
That way when you move out, you can make sure you are leaving it just as you came. And hopefully, get your deposit back.
9. Change your address at least two weeks prior to moving.
10. Clean out your fridge and remember to DEFOST it, at least a day before your move.
