http://www.paradegroup.com/gallery/101 2015 St Patrick's Day Parade, Baton Rouge's Best Parade!

New Shuttle will help avoid road closures and parking!

http://www.paradegroup.com/gallery/101Baton Rouge really knows how to celebrate St Patrick's Day! You may not believe me until you've experienced it for yourself. It truly feels like this parade is bigger than any Mardi Gras parade here in Baton Rouge. Not only is this parade big, but it is family friendly. Make sure to get out there well before 10am, as parking will be scarce and roads will be blocked off. The parade will start at the corner of Hundred Oaks at South Acadian Thruway, travels through Hundreds Oaks neighborhood and ends at the intersection of South Acadian Thruway and Perkins Road. If you are looking to extend the party after the parade, you will be excited to know that many of the local bars in the area will be open all day! A popular place to party after the parade is Uncle Earle's on Perkins Rd near Acadian Thruway. Uncle Earls will be open all day to celebrate St Patrick's day with a block party that consists of food, music, and of course drink specials. You can purchase wristbands beforehand to avoid waiting in line. Another great bar for St Pattys day is Happy's Irish Pub on Third Street and on Coursey Boulevard. Generally, the younger crowd gathers around the area of Perkins Road and I10 (towards the end of the route), so if you are looking to have a more family friendly experience, the best place to stake out would be within the Hundred Oaks subdivision towards the beginning of the route. I just caught wind that there will be a Shamrock Shuttle that will bring parade-goers to the route from both Downtown and an LSU parking lot (lot 109). The shuttle will cost $4 round trip, per rider. You can purchase a ticket at the Downtown Hampton Inn, Mathern's Supermarket downtown, Walgreens at the intersection of Government Street and Acadian Thruway and the Cats Terminal Building on Florida. For more information on the shuttle service including the shuttle pick up times, go to Nola.com or click here.
You can also follow Wearin' of the Green Parade on Facebook where they will occasionally share some parade updates.
