Moving to Baton Rouge to attend LSU can be extremely exciting! It can also be scary when you don't know exactly where you should live while attending LSU. Most people who purchase a house for themselves, for investment or their child to occupy while attending LSU will profit immediately from it. The best thing you can do, is purchase and rent out the spare bedrooms for a competitive price, that will generally exceed the mortgage. Finding a roommate to occupy your spare bedrooms is extremely easy in Baton Rouge, so do not let that steer you away. Once you or your child have finished schooling, you can sell for a profit or continue to rent it out to other students. It is a win win situation and definitely beats flushing money down the toilet by renting a unit from an apartment complex.

Although, it may seem like this subdivision is far from LSU, it is a straight shot to campus. You will find that this subdivision has many student residents. The homes in this subdivision were built in the early 2000's and most of the homes have 3 bedroom and 2 baths. If you are able to come across a home for sale in this neighborhood, you have found a gem!

To enter the community you must first enter the gates of Courtney Place and drive towards the back of the complex. You will then be approached with another security gate. These condominiums are very secluded and back up to Highland Road. Every unit includes a two car garage and fenced in patio, as well as a view of the community's pond. The community includes a swimming pool and sundeck for the residents to enjoy. These New Orleans Style are all 3 bedroom, 3 baths with slab granite counter tops, under-mounted sink, custom cabinets, and 10 ft ceilings. Select units have balconies. Built in 2008 with about 1760 sq ft of living space. These are truly one of my favorite condominiums.

Gated community located off of Burbank Dr. about 1 mile from Lee Dr. The community includes a swimming pool that is open to all Lake Edge residents. Lakes Edge was built in 2005 and offers 2 or 3 bedroom floor plans. The square footage of each unit ranges from 1,196 to 1533. The smaller units are located on the first floor. The larger, 3 bedroom floor plans have a private staircase that leads to the living room, kitchen and master bedroom and bath, then has another stair case off of the living room that leads to the additional bedrooms and bathroom. Each unit has a view of the community's lake from the rear patio.
Lakes Edge Too is located off of Kenilworth Pkwy near Burbank Dr and was built in 2007 by O'Neil/Fremin.All units are 1 bedroom and 1 bath. The community has a large three acre lake and is also protected by a gated entrance.

1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom options. So many to choose from at University View, located off of E. Boyd Drive which runs in between Nicholson and Burbank Drive. You can literally walk to class from these condos, or if you are like me you will just jump on the LSU bus. The first complex was built in the early 2000's while the newer section began builing in 2011 with some units still under construction. Although the two complexes share the same name and builder, they are very different. The original complex is more of a traditional condo, while the newer units have a warehouse style to it.
