Things to do in Baton Rouge THIS Weekend


Weekend Happenings In Baton Rouge!

Events 

1. 5K Zombie Bash Friday, October 4th

Baton Rouge will be hosting their 4th 5K Zombie Bash Friday, October 4th. This event is great for any age, but be prepared... its SPOOKY! Come walk or run in your best zombie costume! Be prepared to get a little dirty, as it will begin and end with mud and water along River Rd. Even if you don't want to participate in the walk/run, you must come to see the end of the race...  a mass performance of Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Check out the video above to see what its all about! Start time is 6:30 p.m. across the street from 13th Gate Haunted House. Registration is $20 for adults and $15 for ages 16 and younger. 3. 13th Gate Opens Friday!

The award winning 13th Gate Haunted House opens up for the season on Friday, October 4th! After you've scared yourself half to death... you should mosey your way across the street to Necropolis 13 for some cemetery frights of its own. The 13th gate costs 25 per person and Necropolis 13 costs additional $20. Both attractions will be open during the weekend until Nov. 2nd and expand its hours during the Halloween week. 4. Tour a SOLAR HOME!
Sunday, October 6th, the Louisiana Solar Energy Society will be providing FREE tours of a Solar Home, beginning at 10a.m. Register by Saturday here

5. New Venture Theatre's - Little Shop of Horrors

Make sure to catch the last weekend of this musical sci-fi parody about a florist who raises a flesh-eating plant. This is just the act to get you in the Halloween spirit! The performance begins TODAY at 7:30 p.m. You can also catch the performance Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday at Independence Park Theatre. Tickets are $20. For more information, click here.

6. Arts Market - Downtown

RAIN OR SHINE! Saturday, on Fifth Street between Main and Laurel streets, more than 60 artists from 4 southern states including Louisiana will be selling everything several types of amazing items. A few items will include textiles, jewelry, woodwork, clothing, photographs, handmade soaps and even pet adoptions! They havn't forgotten about the kiddos either! There will be FREE art activities for the kids from 9 a.m. to noon, with the event beginning at 8a.m. For more information, click here. If you miss this one, don't worry! They are held the first Saturday of each month!
7. Live Painting from Artist Marc Fresh
Friday, October 4th from 8pm until 11pm, a local artist will be painting LIVE at Quarters located off of coursey and S. Sherwood Forest. Quarters is new to Baton Rouge and brings lots of entertainment including a large archade for both kids and adults, bowling and a fully stalked bar for the 21 and older crowd.

10. Spend the day at LASM



 At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 5th, the Louisiana Art & Science Museum will be full of great activities for every family. Rain or Shine, there will be lots of fun to be had! click here for more info.
9. Hands on  drawing and printmaking learning
Does your child love art?  on Saturday, October 5th come check out the first session at LSU's Museum of Art where ages 6 to 12 will receive fun lessons in drawing and printmaking. Admission is $32 for museum members and $40 for non-members. For more information, click here.
